Mixed Probus meanders to Milang

During the last month, Port of Goolwa Mixed Probus members enjoyed a lovely day at Milang with the amazing volunteers at the Railway Museum and Craft shop, which included a guided tour, a beautiful home-cooked two-course meal in one of their rail carriages and a ride on their train, and a coffee morning held at Imbiss on the Elbow at the wharf.

Michael, Vicki, Glenda and Suzanne attended an area hub meeting at Victor Harbor where they leant more about Probus as a group, and came together in planning next year’s big celebration of Probus’ 50th birthday.

Member Bruce Scotland then spoke on his early life in Scotland, which was amazing as he relayed to us some of the differences he experienced compared to young boys who were brought up in Australia during that time.

Just after the end of WWII he and his family migrated in 1956, and two years later, he joined the Police Force where he spent his entire working life.

He now enjoys reading, jigsaws and travelling.

He spent many years being a radio presenter on Happy Fm here in the area.

Members also discussed the steps they have taken and need to take in order to vote on the constitutional changes, as well as planning some outings for the first few months of 2026.

A great meal followed, where they all got to know each other a little bit more.

It’s amazing what some members do, or have been through in their lives, and these lunches and outings are a great time to find out about each other.

Only a few weeks before organisers are needing names for the Christmas lunch and entertainment which will be at the Goolwa Hotel starting at 11am on December 1.

Everyone is welcome at the group’s next meeting on Monday, November 3 at Goolwa Hotel, starting at 10am.
