At the Port of Goolwa Mixed Probus Club’s last general meeting, another new member, Desnee Roe was inducted, talking this year’s new members to 11.
Welcome Desnee to the “Fun, Friendship and Fellowship” group.
A few of the new members have offered to help in different ways throughout the club, and they should be commended for wanting to learn more about Probus.
President Michael Eckert gave a short report regarding the Probus Area Information Day, held at McLaren Vale recently, where lots of successful networking was done with other clubs.
He returned home with lots of ideas for guest speakers, activity venues, and probably most importantly, how all Probus clubs in the area can work together and become involved with other clubs.
The group’s birthdays for May are Chris Burdett and Ron Rooney.
The guest speaker was Maryanne McGill, who gave an interesting talk on General Sir John Monash, who was born 22/6/1865 of Prussian immigrants and, at the age of 14, passed his “matriculation certificate” and went on to be one of the best generals of the Western Front.
Maryanne was thanked by president Michael.
Coffee mornings are back to getting a nice number of members attending.
The club is going to try some new places, suggested by the new members.
Movie Meal Deal is back on starting on Thursday, May 22.
The group will start off with the meal at the Grosvenor Hotel, followed by the movie at 2pm.
All members are to meet at the Victa Cinema just before noon, so they can buy their movie meal vouchers before lunch. The movie will be ‘SALT PATH’.
On Monday, June 16, members will be travelling to Strathalbyn for a tour of the Strathalbyn National Trust Museum, followed by lunch at the Victoria Hotel.
Names to be in by the next meeting.
