The Falcons won the toss and chose to bat first, stepping out confidently.

The Falcons finished on a total of 131 runs.

Emily Roberts absolutely furnaced the day with an incredible 49 not out, only one run away from a well-deserved 50.

She was supported strongly by both Matilda Edmonds and Sophie Caust, who scored 13 runs each and showed excellent running between the wickets.

Lisa Mackenzie chipped in with four runs before being given out LBW, and Holly Santibanez held strong at the end, finishing not out on eight not out.

Skye Warburton also played a fantastic role, pushing hard for singles and making sure every run counted to lift the total.

When it was time to bowl, Jacinta Coulter and Holly Paech opened the attack, keeping things on track.

In the fifth over, Lucy Schreiber broke through with the first wicket, putting a stop to Woodville’s momentum and giving the Falcons a lift.

In the field, K-Leigh Hargreaves worked incredibly hard as balls continued to drop just short or fly just over her head, but her effort was outstanding throughout the innings.

Paige “Speedy Gonzales” Roberts guarded the fine-leg boundary brilliantly, making sure nothing got past without a chase.

A highlight in the field was a slick run-out from Paech and Mackenzie, where Paech placed the ball perfectly and Mackenzie destroyed the stumps in one clean swoop.

The best bowling figures of the day were shared by Edmonds and Schreiber, both finishing with 1/5, but every single player contributed to the performance and that’s what makes this team strong.

In the end, the Falcons came away with a brilliant win by 44 runs.

Roberts was named Player of the Day for her incredible batting performance.

The Falcons will take the field again next Sunday at Strathalbyn Oval, where they will face Sturt at 1pm. For more information about the Eastern Falcons, follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
